  • Biography
My work reflects a passion for collecting and utilising materials which might have otherwise been discarded. Wrappers from luxury soaps, bits of images from newspapers and magazine supplements, gift wrappings and fabric samples. The intention has been to see the beauty in ephemera either singularly or juxtaposed against other assorted pieces, in order to make something unique and beautiful. Through this process another method of 'painting'a shape or object can be applied. In actuality the form that the material then describes is almost negligible in it's importance and what becomes more significant is the ability to draw the viewer in to examine segments of the finished composition. Subsequently the intention is for the viewer to be encouraged to actively make choices about which elements of the composition that they find visually satisfying. The outcome, for me personally, is that the work will always change and develop according to the materials available and that ultimately suits my overall creative process.

    Event: Emma Bennett

    Dates: 1 Apr 2016 - 30 Apr 2016

Venue: Art Underground, Eastbourne, East Sussex, United Kingdom

This exhibition includes both old and new work.
Primarily the exhibition differs from earlier shows I've participated in because I have included a number of preparatory sketches. The sketches have been uniformly framed. I've deliberately chosen white, box frames so that the frame does not detract from either the colour or 'painterly' quality of the work. The exhibition is open Fridays and Saturdays only (and concludes on 30th April). Admission free.
