Original artwork description:

Something a little different style wise but still part of my ongoing travel series. A whistle stop at a remote village in the Gobi desert whilst on the Trans Mongolian Railway. Looking out at the desolation I could appreciate just how difficult the life was in such an unforgiving environment. Leaning out of the carriage window, some children in rags came up selling small colourful pebbles to the foreigners. We swapped some paper money for some pebbles. I have no idea how much but I think they got the better deal. And that's as it should be. This painting is acrylic on canvas, painted fast and loose to try to emphasise the rapidity of constant travel and the snapshots of other cultures barely seen through a train window. Blink and it's gone. Canvas overall size is around 45x90cms to allow for wrapping around a wooden stretcher before framing, giving an image size of around 35x80cms. Sizes will vary depending on how thick a wooden stretcher and frame you use.

Materials used:

Acrylic
