Original artwork description:

This is an original painting, of a birchwood meadow bathed in golden evening sun. The colours are warm and bright, and the woodland is full of beautiful texture.

I painted the woodlands and meadow initially in watercolour washes, using lots of masking out, creating semi-abstract texture and different layers of colour. I then painted in detailed clearly defined trees over the watercolour layer in oil paint, to give form and depth to the image.

Painted in artists' quality watercolour and oil paints on 140lb / 300g/m2 watercolour paper.
