About Rebecca Allen

  • Biography
Making art is a way for me to connect with scenes that captivate me; taking what I see and creating something that is an expression of my reaction to it.

I have always been interested in scenes that mix organic shapes with man-made structures and this still inspires my work today. Whether a tarmac road cutting through the countryside of northern England or a power plant emerging from the lush undergrowth of a river bank in my adopted hometown of Berlin, I enjoy how these elements can enhance each other and, through my work, I seek ways to represent that.

I work mostly in acrylic on high quality paper as I enjoy the immediacy of acrylic and the absorbent qualities of paper, however I also have some larger scale pieces on canvas.
