Event: Winter Fair and open studios at the Hearth Arts Centre
Dates: 21 Nov 2015 - 22 Nov 2015
You are warmly invited to this year's Winter Fair at the Hearth Arts Centre, Horsley on Sat 21st and Sun 22nd November 10.30am to 4pm each day. I will be opening my studio to show my latest prints and originals along with the 10 other resident artists. In addition the hall will be full of hand made creations by a variety of local craftspeople and producers. The acclaimed Hearth cafe will be serving meals and festive treats and there will be live music in the church. It's a wonderful event with a great atmosphere. There's no obligation to buy and entry is free. We do hope you'll come and join us.
Biography
Over the last few years I've been finding ways to link my love of colour and printmaking to another passion - landscape. I've challenged myself to find ways of depicting the landscape that are not representational in a traditional sense but take on an imaginative visual life of their own where I apply composition ideas and vigorous mark-making that is more abstract in nature. But there's one more thread to my work and that comes from the world of textiles - wonderful patterns and textures that were part of my early life. There's no fabric or sewing in my work although there might seem to be on first glance. I am capturing impressions from textured wallpapers and fabrics in both the etchings and monotypes (one-off prints). I use a wide range of hand-printed patterns to convey the patchwork of fields, hills and hedgerows. To bring my printmaking to a wider audience, I now offer a range of high quality giclee prints and greetings cards as well as the hand-made prints.
