About Quan Sun

  • Biography
I am a Chinese visual artist who lives in both Los Angeles and Shanghai, China.
I was born in the middle of the Japanese-Chinese War in 1942, Shanghai.
Instead of going to school, I would often stay home sick and uses this time to draw, sketching everyone around the house.
My artistic pursuits were firmly supported by my parents which led me to the most authoritative art university in China - The Central Art Academy of China.
After the cultural revolution erupted in 1966, me and my classmates were sent down to the country side for military training. These six years of hardship in the beautiful rural landscape of China fueled me with inspirations and later become one of my favorite subject to paint.
In 1990 I moved to America and my artwork was then discovered and represented by many art galleries and art publishers throughout America, Hong Kong, England, Singapore.
