About Peter Pitout

  • Biography
Born in South Africa in 1977. I spent my childhood years, in the City of Durban. The coastal city would have a huge impact on my life and my art. I obtained my Diploma in Industrial Art & Design in 1993. It was during this period that began the lifelong relationship with oil painting. I moved to London, UK in 1995. After a decade in London experimenting in different subjects & mediums, oil painting became central to my creative process. The complexity of assuming a south african identity abroad, solidified my choice, of the human form and identity, as my principle subjects. In 2003 I move to the south of France to dedicate more time to my art & family. In 2006 I obtained my Professional Qualification in Silkscreen Printing. I respect painting as a transcendant art form. I sincerely believe we rediscover our origins whilst in a pure creative process. The creation/work itself is an artifact of a the state of consciousness obtained through the given creative environment.' I've revisited various themes regularly, with new ideas, new convictions & new perspective. My primary subjects are : - The modern human condition in Figurative works - Scientific evolution in abstract Sphere works - Perspective influence in Dark 'Gnomonic' works It is, for me, as much, about the experience of the creative process, as of the creation itself...
