    Used every time!

This is my trusty palette knife. As you can probably see from the layers of paint on the handle - it is a well used tool of my trade! In fact, I use it on every single painting I make.

This week's colour palette and it's not Autumnal!

This week's colour palette and it's not Autumnal!

Even though my work is strongly influenced by nature, I notice I haven't gone all Autumnal! Still got that summer vibe!

    Landscape of a Water Painting

    Landscape of a Water Painting

A very large 'work in progress' in the studio. Taken from this angle, it looks like a landscape.

    Paint, paint, everywhere!

    Paint, paint, everywhere!

I'm working on a big piece this week and when I'm 'in the moment' I'm totally unaware of what is happening to what is around me - including my clothes. Seems like this session was particularly messy and 'in the zone'!

    This Week in the Studio

    This Week in the Studio

Lots going on in the studio this week, working on several canvasses at once. That means many jars of colours being mixed!

    Water by the Thames

    Water by the Thames

If you are near London's Southbank sometime between now and late October, take a break at the lovely Bankside Hotel and see the Nature's Imprint Exhibition. There are artworks by seven artists. Described by Fuse Magazine as "a must-see for anyone interested in the intersection of nature, sustainability, and artistic expression". It seems appropriate that my paintings of water are this close to the Thames.

Nature's Imprint Exhibition at the Bankside Hotel, Southbank

Very pleased to be part of this marvel of an exhibition in the hotel's Whitebox. Explore the profound and intricate relationship between nature, sustainability, and artistic expression in “Nature’s Imprint: A Journey Through Time and Art”. The exhibition is curated by Contemporary Collective and DegreeArt Gallery, reflects their passion and commitment to art and sustainability.

It's that time of year again!

It's that time of year again!

When I go sockless in the studio! Love it! Because I work on the floor, I tend to get covered in paint. Being in bare feet gives me more of a sense of freedom somehow.

    Magic in Nature

    Magic in Nature

I've always been fascinated by shapes in nature - stripes on a zebra, shapes of snowflakes, waves in the ocean and so I love reading Ian Stewart's 'What Shape is a Snow Flake?' "These and other natural patterns have been recognized by scientists for centuries. What do they have in common? They can all be accounted for mathematically. Patterns can embrace chaos, fractals, dislocations, even statistical regularities, and are found in many things that at first seem irregular or featureless." But, at the end of the day it is all still magic in my mind!

    Never happier!

    Never happier!

I am never happier than when I am in my studio immersed in painting. Being creative feels like 'home' to me.

    Work in Progress

    Work in Progress

I work in layers and I let the paint tell me where to go next. This is a current work in progress, nearly complete. The trick is to know when to stop!
