About Judith Nicklin

  • Biography
I have been a photographer for many years and being especially interested in flowers, decided to concentrate my efforts into this fascinating field of photography. I was particularly keen to explore extreme close up shots that not only show the depth of colours and textures but also the fine patterns that run through the petals. Following on from this study, I started exploring the photographic effects which result from shooting flowers embedded in ice. If you look at the margins of frozen ponds and rivers it is often possible to see flowers or berries mistily encased in ice, yet still bravely showing their colours of reds, blues, yellow and white. Surely a triumph of nature over the elements. I find the images both haunting and beautiful.  All my work is printed in either Germany or the UK on art paper with a matter watercolour texture.  For this reason delivery will take a little longer than usual.
