Gregory Heomet is a painter of great talent, depth and Modernist mystery. If I did not know him to be Parisian, I would surely guess, based upon seeing his work, that he is a New Yorker out of the 1950s. He is excellent at painting beautiful women in varied fascinating and provocative situations. He paints men only from behind as they walk or move away into desolate city landscapes that remind one of the existential sterility portrayed in the prufrock-era poetry of T. S. Eliot. I have already selected my Heomet purchase for May.
