About Donna McGlynn

  • Biography
Born in Arbroath, Scotland, I studied at Gray’s School of Art in Aberdeen and graduated with a BA(Hons) in Fine Art. I have exhibited in juried exhibitions such as the BP Portrait Awards, The Morrison Portrait Awards, annual Exhibitions at the Royal Scottish Academy and Royal Glasgow Institute and the Lynn Painter-Stainer’s Award at the Mall Galleries in London. Most recently, my work was included in the shortlist of the inaugural Scottish Portrait Awards in Edinburgh. In my paintings, I speak of the quiet, solitary place within us all, using real yet often dreamlike scenarios, sometimes drawing on the landscape that surrounds us, sometimes drawing on the personal, resulting in narrative, allegorical imagery that reflects on the human experience and the world we live in and shape.
