  • Looking back

Viewing videos of me at work is a great way to remind myself of past work and techniques. As I develop as an artists it's easy to forget what worked in the past. I like to re-use some ideas when I create new work

Oil paints take so long to dry!

It sometimes feels like I haven't introduced new work for ages. In truth, there's often quite a few paintings waiting to be shown, but oil paints take a long time to dry. Like most artists, I do add accelerators, but not too much, as it can cause the paint to become brittle. This artworks been in the drying area for about six months, be patient, it's nearly dry ๐Ÿ‘

    One day!

    One day!

I am continually telling myself that one day, I will totally clean up my studio. Of course, this never happens. I'm beginning to understand, that I like it like this, it's an organised chaos which is much like my brain and my life.

    Hello 2022

    Hello 2022

Thank you to all my lovely collectors of my 2021 artwork. Happy New Year to you all and I hope to have many new collectors alongside you in 2022 ! Sadly, my year ended badly, and I was very poorly with Covid 19. It has given me an unexpected pause, time to clear my head, and think of new beginnings. I am happy painting in oils, but have previously also used acrylics, watercolour, inks etc All have their own difficulties, and I've decided to challenge myself with new medium for a while, and see where it leads. I'm excited by what's to come. Keep watching xx keep safe xx

    Adding the blue, first stages

I was inspired by an amazing sunset over the sea last night and made a start on this one today while the image was still fresh in my head. There's a long way to go, but adding the the complimentary blue is already making it ping!

    Kenco, Gamblin and Hartley's Jam

    Kenco, Gamblin and Hartley's Jam

This is my clean! paint mixing area. I did have a tidy up, but I'm not a neat worker, the adrenalin takes over and I find a mess at the end of each day. I love to recycle anything useful for the studio, be it a toilet role, a jar or a coffee tin, it all helps keep the cost of production down and the quality of the paints and brushes up.

    Little and Large

    Little and Large

The very large canvas on the wall is now completed, but I'm reluctant to role it and hide it away, until it goes to a new home. It's like my sunshine on a dull day, so, I'll keep it hanging for now while I work on the smaller one on the easel

    NHS DONATION

How lovely of the North Middlesex University Hospitals to send a certificate in recognition of the donation I made I sent a painting to help them cheer up the plain walls in their well being room, after they had put a shout out to Artfinder In these difficult times it's a small gesture on my part and I'm humbled to think they made time to recognise it Thank you and keep safe X
