About Carlos J. Marquez

  • Biography

Since I was able to hold a pencil, I remember myself passing the time reading and drawing. Simply, it began as something I was good at. As I went through my education in Art and knowledge of styles and universal artists, I was able to enjoy more doing things as I wanted. It is always different, always learning even inadvertently.

I am currently working on a seascapes project, where I interpret a series of calm water views, exactly how I like to see the ocean, my other passion and probably where I feel more comfortable in.

The goal is trying to complete my work based in opaque and dynamic brushstrokes, leaving behind a sense of freedom. Even though I make sure that I respect shapes and tonalities in a way which, from certain distance, the style becomes scrupulously figurative representing the real model as it is. When by taking a closer look at the painting the representation turns into an abstract rigmarole without any formal reference.

My only interest is to get a vibrant and clean work, leaving the oils making the eye work.
