About Anastasia Lennon

  • Biography
As a child I knew I wanted to be an artist. My parents had art books around the house and I soon came to love Picasso, Van Gogh, and the impressionists. From there I attended Glasgow School of art at 17 and discovered the work of more contemporary artist who have influenced me greatly. From Alice Neel, Milton Avery and Richard Diebenkorn and Cy Twombly to Jean Michel Basquiat and Yayoi Kusama, I have many loves. I am inspired by the simple things, the everyday and the way these things can be magical and fill us with such deep feelings. I was never very good at talking and so all my thoughts and feelings can be found in my work. I am happy when a viewer feels a connection with one of my paintings, recognising something they couldn't explain in words, a feeling or a memory. I now have so much work that it is spilling out of the house and studio to the garden...it needs to find new homes.
