About Victoria Ganea

  • Biography
As an artist I'm deeply inspired by my roots and feminine force, courage and wisdom.
I explore and rediscover my heritage combining it with portraits of women. I enjoy painting portraits and the process of transformation from the initial 'monster layer' to the final result. I love the challenge to keep painting without the urge to make the portrait perfect straight away, instead to see the monster for what it is and work towards the refinement with confidence that it will take shape and trust in what it wants to be. Part of my process is to observe how I feel, what bothers me or what makes me happy in my personal life and society because I believe that each painting is a reflection of that.
My paintings celebrate colour and form, while playing with light and shadow.
In my creative process I use acrylics, but primarily oil paint and oil pastels for texture, using rough brushstrokes and bold colours to make it stand out and communicate emotions, state of mind and feelings.
