Biography
I love to paint people and for that painting to tell a story. I usually begin with photographs and use them to inspire a narrative. It is quite a lengthy process and can take many months but the time is necessary for the unique personality of the character to emerge and for suitable backgrounds to be visualised and created.
My Sepia Series was created when I discovered hundreds of old negatives that had belonged to my ancestors. Using what was lost in the background of the picture I found I could capture intimate moments that had been lost in time. Capturing such subtle and fleeting moments in a beautiful way is always my prime aim.
