About MINDIA MIDELASHVILI

  • Biography
For many years of my career as a photographer, I am on the search for something new, something unique. That’s when I started recreating my photos using old, forgotten technique, called Sun print –Cyanotype photography, which is an exclusive and distinctive art form that was created by English scientist and astronomer Sir John Herschel in 1842.

-It is a printing technique that uses film negative, direct sunlight, and some special formula for exposure.
Each photo is one of a kind, with unique brush strokes printed on watercolor paper. The result is something between a photo and a painting.

-Sun Print technique is especially significant because the image that you get resembles a graphic painting, with a vintage look.
-I sometimes use coffee or tea toning to achieve a vintage, sepia look, different from the original sun print's many shades of blue.
