About Margaret Battye

  • Biography

I am a Yorkshire Artist working mainly in Ink Resist (an old process which I have tailored to suit my style).  My paintings are taken from everyday life painted slightly abstract with pure colour using best 'Artist' quality materials. My paintings depict the often overlooked world around us.

Ink resist paintings have a unique surface texture. They can be fairly smooth and matte (depending upon how much paint was applied in the first instance) and can appear a little shabby or unrefined. For me this is very appealing and very much the hallmark of this type of painting.

My ambition is to explore and find more subjects suited to this wonderful process. I work mainly from photographs, either my own or those very generously donated by others.

I have been fortunate to have been chosen twice to exhibit at the Society of Women Artists, Mall Galleries, London

Other mediums used can be either pyrography (wood burning) oil or acrylic
