  • Biography
My name is Lisa Punter and I live in Hastings, East Sussex, a seaside town in the south East of England.
I've always loved drawing and painting. I attained my art degree at UWO in Ontario Canada where I lived for 18 years.  Now I'm back in the UK with my husband and 2 boys. I think this moving from one place to another has left me with a deep sense of the significance of place and the desire to share such feelings via my work.
The older I get, the more I realise I need nature, and I'm lucky to live in a particularly beautiful part of the world...At least I think so! In East Sussex, we have the sea, the marshlands of Rye and beautiful countryside-not to mention amazing skies...These are a constant source of inspiration for me.
While my work is rooted in traditional representation, it's the underlying patterns in nature that I'm drawn to, for example, the horizontal lines in the land and water that are subsequently echoed in the skies and wind turbines, in my Pett Level series.
Like many artists, I'm also drawn to light with the colour and tonal changes the suns rays create especially when contrasted with the colour and tonal changes created by light's absence.
