About Katy McKidd Stevenson

  • Biography
I paint portraits, including 'large heads' and smaller scale pieces - and also narrative art. I work in the media of oil, acrylic, ink and mixed media. My themes have included people falling or floating in the sky - abandoned or threatened by aeroplanes, facing their mortality....the magic of Christmas....and I am currently working on a modern fairytale of wasps invading a home. My ideas come from my subconscious, and can be inspired by objects such as tinsel or wasps' nests. My influences range from favourite artists to illustrations from books and comics I read as a child. I will consider portrait commissions, although would prefer to meet personally for initial studies and photographs.
