About Kama Zakirova

  • Biography
I am a figurative and abstract artist with a background in design living in Bristol.

My chosen mediums are watercolour, acrylic and ocassionally oil. Painting / drawing people and creating abstract shapes are two things I enjoy the most, and I like combining abstract art with representational elements. I complete some paintings in a few days but I feel others need to sit before I can return to them.

Intuition is part of my process and through art I explore connections between people, presence and absence, memories, conscious and unconscious.

    Event: Moods

    Dates: 2 Oct 2023 - 25 Nov 2023

    Venue: Tobacco Factory Cafe, Bristol

MOODS is an exhibition of paintings created as an emotional response to memories, events and places by a local artist Kama Zakirova.
Inspired by moods and feelings each piece usually starts with a photo or a mental image which is then translated into a painting. Some of the works shown took weeks to finish and some were painted spontaneously.
Like emotions each painting is different, whether in its intensity, feel, colour, medium, texture or size and conveys a different atmosphere.
