About James Agard

  • Biography
Please note: All of my sculptures are made out of wood (Cedar). They are intended to be place in an interior environment only.

I have always had an affinity for creating with wood. Over the years I've restored 10 properties. Several were historic. One is listed on the National Registry of Historic Structures. I've also built wooden boats. I've taught studio art at three different colleges over a period of 44 years. I've exhibited in NYC, D.C., Philadelphia, . Creating challenging provocative work has been a life long goal. My work was always like an old friend. It was always there and never let me down. I like making my work. I'm not, however, crazy about selling it. I've never been a particularly agile salesman. An innate skill that I somehow never mastered. I am, however, proud of participating in well over 100 museum, public and private exhibitions throughout the U.S. and Europe. I am interested in an efficient effective means of getting my work out to the public and producing sales. Although selling my work has never been a high priority... Artfinder appears to be ideal means to solving my lack of incentive and inertia, when confronting my interest in selling my work.
