About Gianfranco Della Rossa

  • Biography
My name is Gianfranco Della Rossa and I am an Italian sculptor formed at the Academy of Fine Arts and with an education in Sociology. With my sculptures I follow different subjects, returning to paths I have frequently travelled in search of new ways of expressing them, continuously renewing my curiosity and interest. I find it difficult to define myself in traditional artistic categories. I am a very curious type and attentive to what surrounds me. For a long time I have dealt intensely with the relationship between touch and sculpture and between sculptural forms and the surrounding space. All these experiences have never been self-reliant to my eyes but have always stimulated the next development of my work, enriching it. Since a while I have been developing a series of works that focus on the sculptural representation of organic forms in their broader aspects: human, animal, vegetable and mineral forms. I focus my attention to the processes of development, transformation and decay. I bring to your attention some of these works. Over time I have modelled various materials such as wood, stone, cement, wax, bronze, merging them each other in order to express their core. It is in the "earth" (clay), though, that I found the place I naturally belong to. Earth is in fact a material that allows me a perfect meeting between its conceivable expression and my research and experimentation. My works are displayed in private collections and public spaces. I desire to show my latest works on Artfinder because I believe it is a well-structured platform that offers interesting services to both artists and collectors.
