    Mixing Cyanotype Solution

    Mixing Cyanotype Solution

To coat the paper or fabric that I'm going to make a cyanotype on, I have to be in a dark spot as it it very light sensitive. After these bottles were opened I dimmed the lights low and had no natural light coming in. It makes coating large pieces quite hard as you also have to have them stored in the dark to dry!

Celebrating on Varnishing Day at The Royal Academy Summer Show

I was so happy to have this piece selected to be part of the Summer Exhibition at The Royal Academy in 2019. This photo was taken on varnishing day. This is the day when the Royal Academy officially opens the show for all the participating artists to see their work before it opens to the general public.

Aspects of the printing process include using a rubber brayer ink roller to ink the plate with relief and etching inks. I always use the very best premium quality inks and the highest quality printmaking paper for all my prints.

An important stage of the process is mixing the inks before they are used for the linocuts, etchings, woodcuts and relief prints. I often mix bespoke colours for each of my works.
