Esmeé Van Giap (b.2001) is a painter based in South London who has just graduated from Camberwell College of Arts with a First Class Honours in Painting. Their work depicts fantasy compositions, conveying intimate dynamics that consider ideas of spirituality, religion and myth. The use of symbols are important as personal motifs and subliminal messages, and the representation of the female figure is integral to exploring femininity and sexuality. Their paintings seek to depict mythical and angelic figures with dream-like qualities, situating them within imaginary landscapes, where bold brushstrokes contrast with delicate, enticing beings.
