About Emma Bennett

  • Biography

Using delicate hand-cut/torn collage I paint a canvas with paper, exploring a range of subject themes, from birds and animals to local landscapes.  My care and concern for the environment means I use only recycled materials in my work, mainly coloured papers taken from magazines and old maps.  Using only scissors – no fancy gadgets, I hand-cut intricate pieces of magazine paper to create layer upon layer of delicate collage.  As I use discarded magazines, my work responds directly to the seasonal colours in the publications, so any piece develops truly organically with often surprising results.

In 2017 I created The Cambridge Art Book which shows Cambridge and around through the eyes of 51 amazing artists.

I am influenced by colourful Artists such as Matisse and those with an eye for detail like L.S. Lowry.

I am fortunate enough to be represented by one of the top Art galleries in Cambridge (UK) who have sold my original pieces to places as far afield as Australia and Dubai.
