    New work!!!

Well, it's been a rather rough go over the past few years for everybody, and my life has been no exception. I'm finally ready to start making new work for sale from my studio. The past few years I have tinkered through an endless array of mindsets and exhausting months. I'm hoping to pick up my studio activity and will be uploading new paintings again soon! All the best, Roy

    Lots of new work!

I just put the finishing touches on 6 new 10" square paintings, a trio of 36"x24" paintings, and a slew of new 12" square paintings I'll be adding to artfinder soon. On the horizon there will be a bunch of larger paintings as well as myour 12" squares!

    End of 2016

    End of 2016

This has been such a tumultuous year it will be great to get away for a while, visit family and my old friends. Everytime I do drive to the airport, I park at the Thomas Hart Benton lot, named after one of Kansas City's greatest artists, who, in addition to his own stunning body of work, left his mark on the modern art world by teaching Jackson Pollack to paint. I will be leaving town for the holidays on the 19th, so the last day I'll be able to take orders and send paintings will be on the 18th. I hope the holiday season is peaceful and filled with love! New Year, New Studio, Lots of New Work Coming Soon!

So I'm moved into my new studio and am really excited to get started on some new, larger projects! In addition to the fresh start of the new year, I've recently updated my website and lowered the price on all my older works in the shop here on artfinder, trying to clear space for all the new work that will soon fill my painting racks! I hope you and your family had the best holiday season and I hope for peace, health, love and prosperity for you and everybody in your family in the New Year!

    Edges of Paintings

    Edges of Paintings

I have found that a great alternative to canvas stretchers is birch boards cradled to a depth of 1.5". Lightweight, durable, and archival, this painting support allows me the flexibility of painting a painting any size that isn't nearly as cost prohibitive as handmade or store bought canvas stretchers are. I am often asked about the edges of paintings - I leave them with the natural wood exposed, but am willing to paint the edges black for you if you request it. So when you are putting in an order, just send me a message and I can paint the edges and have it shipped out often on the same day without delay! I attached a picture of what a larger 18" painting on birch looks like with its 1" cradled edges painted black looks like.

    International Shipping

    International Shipping

I've had a lot of questions about international shipping, and since I started showing my work on artfinder, I've had to figure out the specifics for myself. Here's a few things that I have found out: The United States Postal Service is by far the most cost effective option available. Always reliable and speedy, the USPS's rates are really the only affordable option. I have looked into FedEx, UPS, and DHL with various sized packages and the rates are anywhere from 7-9 times the price of the USPS. I've also found a great online tool to figure out duty and VAT. Here is the site that I found: http://www.dutycalculator.com/new-import-duty-and-tax-calculation/ To get an accurate idea of if/how much duty/VAT, use the code 9701.10.0000 under product description. It is the code for original art, and fortunately, the EU has a lower tariff on art than other products! I hope you find this helpful!

    Seasonal Paintings

    Seasonal Paintings

Over the years, the more I paint the more I realize I really paint to the seasons. Lots of my winter paintings use cool blues and dark, thick, cutting brushmarks. My summer paintings are sedate, calm, serene, bright with colors. The freshness and joy of Spring definitely finds its way into my works as well. It's fun and a constant reminder of just how much nature around us affects us.

    Working on some new paintings...

    Working on some new paintings...

As usual, I'm painting a bunch in my studio again and am excited about how these canvases will turn out. After this batch of 12" x 12" paintings on cradled birch, I'll probably spend some time painting some larger canvases. If you're interested in buying two or more canvases, I can offer you a 10% off coupon. I only have three to give away, so hurry! Thanks again for your interest in my work, and I do hope that you'll follow me on artfinder! Thanks, Roy

    An oldie from Milan

I try to travel as much as possible, I find it very inspiring - watching sunsets and sunrises over different parts of the world always amaze me - as well as any beach on any continent!
