About Morten Leine

  • Biography

My name is Morten Leine. I was born and raised in Lillehammer, Norway, but moved to Oslo where I worked in the travel industry. The camera was always with me.
I have several courses in the field of photography and graphic art. I have completed 3 years at the New York Institute of Photography.
I prefer to work with abstract and metaphorical expressions. An abstract photograph may isolate a fragment of a natural scene in order to remove its inherent context from the viewer, or it may involve the use of color, light, shadow, texture, shape and/or form to convey a feeling, sensation or impression.

I work exclusively with natural light. This gives me a lot of exciting themes and challenges that I like to work with. It often means that I have to go back to the motives, where possible, in order to get the light, I like. I work only with a handheld camera. I want to be as close to the subject as possible. None of my images are manipulated. Many of my motives are extracted from nature / the natural environment. The visual expression of my art photographs has a variation, but still certain common features.
