About Teresa wells

  • Biography
Inspired by a moral upbringing, I possess an ethical consciousness along with a fascination for the question, “How do Humans Behave?” Through the medium of sculpture I explore the tenuous relationship between man and his society. Isolation, miscommunication, fragility and strength are most attractive. There is a need for me to express this in ways that invite participation. Employing an illustrative and baroque style to the recreation of the human form, I offset emotional theatrical posturing against strong geometric steel shapes, to illustrate that when we are alone, unsure and vulnerable that is when our true humanity comes through. We survive despite of our flaws and it is our whole selves that make us beautiful. I focus on creating figurative sculptures in bronze, that celebrate man’s physical and emotional survival over adversity. A multi award-winning sculptor I work to commission and sell work through various gallery platforms in the UK, The Netherlands and USA. More recently I was commissioned by BBC1 and Netflix to produce a sculpture for the highly acclaimed Dracula series and have appeared on the BBC and ART UK in schools promoting the value of sculpture. I am approaching Artfinder in this current crisis to increase my potential to sell my sculpture when the majority of selling platforms and galleries are closed. The quality of work that is sold on this platform is of the same standard as my own.
