About Sue Ashton

  • Biography

"Time is precious, thank you for taking the time to look." I studied Art & Design as a mature student and graduated in 2006 specialising in Textiles. I am constantly experimenting with new techniques and materials. I like to incorporate all sorts of re-cycled fabrics, organic materials, paint, stitch and found objects. My aim is to achieve surreal organic images, highly textural, with an abstract quality which may invite the viewer to want to touch.

I also enjoy the freedom of painting and have developed my own style and techniques. I am currently exploring abstract and intuitive painting.  The changing colours of the sea, music, movement and light are my inspiration, I use texture and colour to create peaceful, calming, thought provoking images.

Sue is passionate about her work and paints from the heart.  The edges of the canvas are painted and her work is professionally finished to a very high standard.  She uses Loxley Gold canvas from Turners Art shop and they are finished with a protective coat of varnish.
