About Stephanie Przybylek

  • Biography

Exploring nature is my passion. My art is a colorful but carefully observed take on creatures and the natural world. Diverse travel, from the Atchafalaya Basin to the glaciers of Iceland has fueled this interest. My goal? Encourage people of all ages to reconnect with the natural world. Go Outside and Play!

I grew up in Western Pennsylvania in an artistic family. My grandfather was an independent glass designer and my father spent a career in graphic arts and advertising. So art materials were all around me. I was obsessed with animals as a child and many trips to the Carnegie Museum of Natural History in Pittsburgh fueled the fire. I spent endless time in woods and wading in streams. I even took taxidermy correspondence courses in high school! Later volunteer work drawing small mammals and rodent skulls with the Mammals Division at the Carnegie Museum only strengthen my interest.

Much of my professional life has been spent in the museum field as a curator, exhibit designer and educator. But that love of creating my own work never left and today I'm pursuing life as a full-time artist.
