About Spencer Yancey

I'm first and foremost a landscape painter and through these landscapes I aim to primarily capture light and water. I have always held a deep appreciation and fascination for the beauty of these natural elements as they are dynamic, ever-changing, and seem to create a sense of warmth and comfort. My work is simply an attempt to capture such qualities, reactions and overall beauty on canvas.

There is no brushwork within my paintings as I use a 1.5" palette knife for all paint application. The knife allows me to incorporate texture and depth, creating a tangible, three-dimensional quality to the painting while inviting the viewer to engage with the artwork on a more tactile level.
