    The thrilling bit!

    There is nothing like the moment when you lift the paper from the block to reveal your printed image. It is the first time you truly see it. Because the print is carved into the block in reverse, by the time you have finished, your brain has adjusted to the back to front image. Its the moment of reward for all the hard work done, and can fill you with delight (or disappointment if you too late spot an error). Either way, it is completely addictive.

    I like to look back over work in progress images, the block of Lino is a beautiful thing in its own right, although no-one else gets to see it! This was an angel print I made for a commission last winter, she's gilded here with traces of gold ink and winter sunshine.
