About Sharon Deegan

  • Biography
My work is entirely inspired by the natural world around us. The fury of the sea, the calm reflections of water, the delicacy of a summer bloom and the beauty of the underwater world. I love textures and surface interest and tactile, textile inspired artwork that makes you want to reach out and touch it.
My inspiration comes from many things. Recurring themes in much of my work are flowing images, I like the idea of movement and that nothing stands still and is always changing. Metallics are also used in most of my work; again there is the idea of constant change as the metallics in the paintings look different in daylight or electric light and even when viewed from a different angle. I have always had a fascination with shiny, sparkly things, the effects of oil on water and metallic colours.
