Biography
I live in the Alps in France with my family and work from a small studio at my house in the mountain village of Argentiere in the Chamonix Valley. It is an exceptionally beautiful part of the world, with immense landscapes, and dramatic forms. The people who visit it are invariably dynamic , and I try to capture the exhilaration of activities like snowsports in my work.
I can never decide if I am a printmaker who likes painting, or a painter that uses printing techniques. For me the distinction blurs, and is often circular. However one of the strongest influences is of the printers need to work back to front. I love reverse glass painting for this reason too.
I studied at Falmouth College of Arts in Cornwall midway through a career which had started in the corporate world.
I have travelled extensively in Asia, and I like to think there are influences from China and Japan in my work.
I also teach art in Chamonix.
