About Robert Dutton

  • Biography
Landscape is in my soul. My art is a way of expressing not just how I see the world and the landscapes I immerse myself in but an expression of it. It’s the later which is the driving force behind my work. I initially qualified as a graphic designer and illustrator (with a BA Hons degree) and after a successful career in the commercial industry for over 30 years and a yearning to pursue a fine art career, I became a full time artist in 2013. It’s fair to say it wasn’t a straight switch. I’d been building my fine art career for a number of years in any spare time I got which included writing regularly for ‘The Artist’ magazine, winning awards at several major open art competitions and teaching successful and popular art workshops, together with sell out shows convinced me the decision to go full time fine art was a good one. I’ve not proved myself wrong! Fully immersed in my art career I now inspire students from all over the globe with my expressive style. What a thrill to have a solo book published by Search Press called ‘Drawing Dramatic Landscape’ (the first in their innovative Artist series) and distributed worldwide, be such a top selling book! As an Ambassador for several well know art brands such as Nitram Charcoal (Canada), Derwent art materials (UK) and Unison Colour pastels (UK), this too has brought more international acclaim for my unique and expressive style of work. Choosing to sell with Artfinder expands my work to an even greater audience of art buyers and can capitalise on all the successes I’ve had to benefit us both. It’s fantastic that I’ve mentored over the years a successful selling artist with Artfinder so that’s another plus point in wanting to join you. The art market is changing to - especially the way we, as artists reach out to art lovers and collectors. It’s nothing short of a revolution to be honest so, joining a professional well respected organisation like yourselves is a must. So, why not be with the best - Artfinder!
