About Rebecca Vincent

  • Biography
I'm a printmaker based in the North of England. Printmaking has been the focus of my working life from art school onwards. The amazing colour and mark-making possibilities of etching and monotype have fascinated me for many years as I've experimented and innovated with them.

Over the last few years I've been finding ways to link my love of colour and printmaking to another passion - landscape. I've challenged myself to find ways of depicting the landscape that are not representational in a traditional sense but take on an imaginative visual life of their own where I apply composition ideas and vigorous mark-making that is more abstract in nature. But there's one more thread to my work and that comes from the world of textiles - wonderful patterns and textures that were part of my early life. There's no fabric or sewing in my work although there might seem to be on first glance. I am capturing  impressions from textured wallpapers and fabrics in both the etchings and monotypes (one-off prints). I use a wide range of hand-printed patterns to convey the patchwork of fields, hills and hedgerows. To bring my printmaking to a wider audience, I now offer a range of high quality giclee prints and greetings cards as well as the hand-made prints.
