About Phillip Livingston

  • Biography

Organic, unplanned designs that emerge in the urban environment are fascinating to me. Concrete surfaces that have been stained or worn away over time, merging natural and industrial elements together, blurring the lines between natural and artificial. This evokes a sense of rawness and authenticity and offers a different perspective on our relationship with nature.

My art explores the area between the intentional and chance, precision and flow. I'm continuously experimenting with different techniques that involve layering, stripping back, smearing and re-layering. My background in graphic design also influences my work with suggestions of typography and geometric shapes. The end result is a combination of elements that represent a continuation of the ever changing world.
