Event: SOLO SHOW 'SEE THE SEA'
Dates: 21 Sep 2018 - 30 Sep 2018
Returning to this venue with an exhibition of oil paintings, large, medium and small plus some prints. Featuring my contemporary water paintings from the Tranquillity, Eternity, Liberty and Koi Anticipation series together with some very traditional marine paintings.
Biography
My paintings can be divided into several different style categories, from traditional marine subjects which frequently have strong historical narratives often involving considerable research, to much looser more impressionistic canvases and to my more contemporary style water paintings. The contemporary paintings from my Tranquillity, Eternity and Liberty Series have won multiple international awards, and are often large scale centre piece paintings with a leaning towards being photo-realistic.
As a professional, traditional and representational artist my aim is to create a high degree of realism in one form or another across my various styles. Using only high quality professional grade pigment rich oil paints which I can either meticulously blend to create interesting and subtle colour shifts or create more energetic and spontaneous brush marks on the canvas surface. With my painting I want to retain the qualities of traditional and authentic oil painting whilst absorbing a modern and contemporary approach to my subject matter.
Now for some more product information:
I choose to work with superior quality materials. Oil paint has a richness that is unparalleled. I source high grade finely woven linen canvas that is oil primed, which provides a wonderfully subtle texture to paint on. This is a surface that has stood the test of time and I always stretch my own canvases using only robust stretchers. Stretchers are the hidden frame that holds the canvas taut. This does enable me to paint on outstanding surfaces and be in complete control of quality, for me both are important factors. I apply the same tried and tested philosophy to the paint that I use, sourcing from only highly reputable producers who share the same respect for 500 year old traditional paint making processes. Using the paint straight from the tube and avoiding any additives that could compromise the longevity of the paint.
With regard to shipping I use specifically constructed wood/plywood crates that are robust enough to ensure the safe transit of the paintings. My paintings are shipped ready to hang and are never rolled.
Some of my sold paintings are available here as artist signed limited edition prints.
I would however like to draw the attention of prospective international purchasers to any import duties/taxes levied being the responsibility of the purchaser.
