Biography
Greetings!
Thank you for visiting my online shop!
My name is Nikolay Sologubov. I live and work in Kiev. My father is a famous Ukrainian artist. My older brother is a famous Ukrainian artist. My uncle and grandfather are artists too. So, could I be someone else but artist?
Of course I could! I could be a writer like my second grandfather. I could be a doctor. I could be a scientist, an astronaut, a politician. I could be anyone!
But I have always wanted to be an artist, since being a child, from the moment when I began to comprehend myself.
I studied a lot. The very first lessons gave me my father and his friends-artists. I graduated from Shevchenko Republican School of Art as a sculptor. I learned from my brother. I learned from other masters, who I was lucky to meet in my life. And now, yes, I study, because one of the virtues of a true Master is being open to the new.
In my paintings I appeal to traditions of old masters. But at the same time I try to give a new vision to ancient images. Archaism in my works is called to remind the modernity of eternal and timeless meanings, about values, that are beyond the control of time. Dense structural texture with concentration of lively colour spots of impasto strokes, composition of local interacting forms in specially styled pattern of figures remind us of Old Eastern culture, pre-classical archetype.
I manage to convey this message to the audience, as many times I have witnessed this fact on my personal exhibitions and exhibitions with other artists, not only in my country, but also in many European countries.
My works are present in Kiev National Museum of Russian Art (Kiev, Ukraine), in the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts (New York, USA), in Centro per l'arte contemporanea in Gambassi Terme (Toscana, Italy), in Kavaleridze Museum-Workshop (Kiev, Ukraine), in Berdychiv Historical Museum (Ukraine), in private collections in Ukraine, Russia, Germany, Italy, Spain, France, USA, Japan, Australia.
But I really want my works to be available not only to a narrow circle of collectors and gallerists, but also to all art-lovers. This, in fact, pushed me to sell my works at affordable prices on the Artfinder.
I hope my paintings will bring to your house the warmth of my heart and the wisdom that I perceive all my life. Look closely to my work carefully: in them are Love, Beauty and Harmony.
I hope you'll enjoy my paintings too!
