About Miles Watson

  • Biography
I was born in Athens and grew up in Brussels and West London where I now live. At the age of 5 I went to a religious school in Brussels where the teachers didn’t speak English. I couldn’t understand French at the time so the visual language of drawing and painting were my only means of communication. Since then art has been a constant in my life. The full spectrum of Nature inspires me to create, from plasma and protein to prehistoric life, trees, animals and humans; I’m fascinated by forms of social, cultural and historical interactions and strive to capture these concepts in my work. When I create art, I try to listen to my instincts, feelings and thoughts and let them fight it out to decide the direction of my next work. My art practice often includes ongoing themes, where ideas that were seeded in earlier works are explored and can evolve. At college I started with painting then studied sculpture and digital media. In between I picked up practical skills from building & decorating work, set design, signwriting and graphic design. My work today is in painting (oil is my preferred medium as I feel it has more expressive range) and 3-d media, both of which draw on the above practices. I like producing art work on a large scale as it offers the opportunity for greater scenic impact, and I have been lucky to be able to gain a lot of experience in producing large-scale public art works with Urban Eye. I also enjoy producing small and medium size works for interiors. I chose Artfinder since I was looking for a credible and well-known platform to sell my artwork. I wanted to sell it on an ethical and reputable site with a broad community of artists and art-lovers from across the globe.
