About MICHAEL MCDONAGH WOOD

I began to paint in watercolours in the late 1980s. I had previously used acrylics and made etchings and screen prints. I was immediately entranced by the subtlety, fluidity and luminous quality of the medium which enabled me to fully achieve my visual goals. I am particularly interested in painting architecture and water so Venice is an enduring inspiration. I love the dilapidated surfaces of the grand palazzos reflected in the canals. I have painted views of Venice for over 30 years but still the beauty and mystery of the glorious city never fail to excite me. I hope through Artfinder to reach a wider audience both geographically and demographically for my work.
