About Lisa Plumb

  • Biography
I'm Lisa Violet Leverseidge. I started photography during GCSEs after being compared to self portrait and performance photographer, Cindy Sherman. Feeling inspired, I began taking self portraits and didn't stop. This then escalated into a sheer love for photography and in particular, fashion photography. I then went to do a BTEC where it all flourished and after that I hit a world wind of decisions. Firstly, I received an offer from Bournemouth Arts university when I accepted until I fell into an incredibly happy void of romance with another photographer and decided not to go. On reflection this was one of the best decisions I have ever made - himself and his work is one of my biggest influences. A lot of modern ladies would not let love influence big, educational decisions, but where would Steiglitz be without Georgia O'Keefe or Man Ray without Kiki? Love conquers all, so they say.
Following this decision, I announced a "gap year". I didn't save turtles, climb a volcano or grow dreadlocks. Instead I spent this year with the person I fell in love with, taking more pictures than ever, influencing each other to be the best photographers we could ever be. I applied for a place at London College of Fashion and this time around, they offered me a place. Unconditionally. We were both very excited but the closer it came to leaving, the more home sick I become, before I had even left. Being a young person of twenty who has already lived in a number of fifteen different homes, finding somewhere that felt like "home" now seemed very unlikely and I wasn't willing to let the feeling go. So once again, I left the idea of going to university altogether and we have embarked on an adventure together, a business adventure, Him & Her wedding photography. We set up fashion shoots in between busy times and here I am selling the outcomes, all as one offs, signed and numbered "one of one". Some are film, some are digital.
