About Lee Forester

  • Biography
My name is Lee Forester. Born in Wokingham, England in 1967 and moved to Andalucia, Spain in 2001. The son of a carpenter and cabinet maker, I spent my entire childhood surrounded by wood and started making my own wooden toys from off-cuts in my father’s workshop as soon as I could manage small tools.

    Sculpture:
Throughout my life I have continued this connection with wood by having a workshop of my own and making much of my own furniture. In 2014 I started wood-carving and instantly fell in love with the whole process. From the initial design of a project, to the photography of the model, selection of the suitable wood, be it a solid block, or with some art projects multiple blocks. Following weeks or sometimes months of careful and painstaking work using traditional hand chisels to carve away all the excess wood the sculpture is revealed, a single mistake at this stage can result in the entire piece being reduced to firewood. Finally after many hours of sanding and finishing I hope to have captured both the beauty of the subject as well as the beauty of the wood. I have been working as a professional wood carving artist since 2018.

    Art:
I'm primarily known internationally as a sculptor and wood carver, but my passion has always encompassed all forms of art in three dimensions. I feel that extra dimension of depth brings a many-fold increase in interest to a piece, (as well as the personal challenge which I embrace of the greatly increased complexity of creating three dimensional art).

Until now my three dimensional paintings have not been available for purchase by art lovers and  collectors, as I have only created them for my own home and a very small group of close friends and family.

I am now releasing two collections of three dimensional artworks alongside my sculptures.
The two collections, entitled "Lines" and "Curves", allow an opportunity to explore the complexity of three dimensional art in a modern form that is easy to display. These paintings are all hand produced, hand stamped by the artist on the back, and supplied with a Certificate of Authenticity and verified with my wax seal. They are ready to hang and are carefully packaged for transport to ensure they arrive in perfect condition.

All you need to do is choose the perfect spot to hang them, then relax and enjoy the constantly changing complexities of the artwork as the angle of the natural light in your home or business inexorably alters the play of light and shadow on the angled surfaces.
