About Kevin Devonport

  • Biography
Kevin Devonport mainly paints in oils and occasionally acrylic. His main genre is still life which is influenced from traditional Vanitas paintings albeit in a contemporary style. Many of the artefacts used in Kevin's paintings are symbolic and represent certain concepts therefore spelling out a visual language. He has a First Class (Hons) BSc in Social Science which has an influence on many of his paintings underlying themes whilst also much of his work also being autobiographical. His painting has a degree of realism and in his work he aims to incorporate 3 elements: a degree of artistic skill, a thought provoking concept, an image that is aesthetically pleasing to the eye. Event though he does have a particular fondness for still life he does not limit himself to this one genre and does explore other avenues.
