Biography
My work is landscape and representational in the English painting tradition. Themes include marine coastal scenes, landscapes, aviation and portraiture. I particularly enjoy capturing the elemental forces of land, sea, and sky.
I have a schoolboy enthusiasm for machines, which fly or float and my paintings usually begin with rigorous historical research.
I am Chairman of the Thames Maritime Artists Group, formerly Chairman of the National Maritime Museum Art Club and the Old Royal Naval College Art Club. My work was included in the 2019 Royal Society of Marine Artists annual exhibition at The Mall Galleries in London and have in the past featured as the Online Gallery ‘Artist of the Month’ in The Artist Magazine. I have work in the permanent collection of the Guildhall Museum, Eastgate House Rochester and Upnor Castle in Kent and in collections worldwide.
I also
demonstrate painting techniques with acrylics and watercolours to several arts
clubs and undertake private commissions.
