About Jovan Srijemac
Biography
''Everything around us is a big dream.'' I dream of my colors and I use them for my painting as I dream them. I'm awake and dreaming
Jovan Srijemac, passionate
artist, painter and writer, was born on 3 May 1962 in ex-Yugoslavia. . He started as a 16 year old boy at a private art school with art
lessons. During that time, from 1978 to 1982 he was vaccinated by Dali and
surrealist art. His first paintings were painted with oil paint in surreal
style. Very soon he got enough of surrealism, because of his temper he could
not resist painting for a few days (fine painting).
Since the late 1980's, painting has been quickly, without any unnecessary
details becoming a new style.
In 1992, Jovan left his native country because the war had begun. In the summer
of 1993 he came to The Netherlands. He left all his paintings, all of them
destroyed in the war.
At that time his paintings were dark and gloomy as his feelings. Since 1998 he
has begun using more color. "Color is born", he calls that period
himself.
Jovan paints with palette knife and uses the paint directly from the paintpot
or the tube, expressionist and colorful. As a theme, he uses everything as an
inspiration. He would like to paint on his own style with expressionistic color
use, and often the paint is applied to the canvas in an aggressive, free way
directly from paint pot with palette knife and quick hand movements.
Recognizable style of Jovan's work is appreciated by a wide audience of
customers, private collectors and corporate collections - offices across
Europe, but also outside Europe.
Jovan Work is very unique in style and color use.
