About Jo Tuck

  • Biography
My recent paintings are inspired by the color and shapes found in nature architecture and everyday life. My landscapes and still life paintings are characterized by strong color and shapes and I paint in an expressionistic style, my work being neither abstract nor representational, but something in between. I would hope the viewer shares my love of color and how it affects our emotions and soul.

Jo Tucks works are in private collections around the world and regularly participates in shows in New York, Caelum Gallery, and London, including Christie's Cancer benefit show and the RA Summer shows. Her background is film editing until she became a full-time painter and photographer. While she was at college she made two 16mm short films, one on the Australian Aboriginal Women and another on Sheep farming in Wales.

After film editing for the BBC and feature films, I took up painting and photography full time. My photojournalism is inspired by Henri Cartier-Bresson, Walker Evans, Eugene Atget, and Robert Frank to name a few.

She now spends time between New York, Paris, Australia and London.
