    Speaking at the Houses of Parliament

    I was recently commissioned by the WWF to paint a series of paintings of the British landscape to highlight the issues of climate change. I was invited to exhibit my work at the Houses of Parliament in London and here I am giving a speech on my experiences of the project.

    Sketching

    The British coast and landscape is my inspiration. In my paintings I try to capture the sense of calm that I feel when I am by the sea or out in nature. My favourite places are the South coast of the UK including Devon, Cornwall and Sussex as well as the North Norfolk coast and the Algarve in Portugal.

    Painting a landscape commission in my studio

    I'm lucky enough to have a fantastic purpose built studio space alongside other artists. My paintings are created by building up multiple fine layers of oil paint. The clouds and waves are created by flicking paint at the canvas and smoothing it in. This brings a real sense of energy and movement to the sky and sea.
