    James Earley Painting The Eye

    I find that painting the underpainting of the eye is the most important part of the painting. It is the emotional heartbeat of the painting. I have to ensure that there is a direct line from my heart to the eye as then there is no compromise to the painting. It is undiluted.

    Working in my Studio

    I normally work on two or three paintings at a time. I add a first layer to a painting and leave it to dry for about a week and I can then work on the second layer. This process continues with multiple layers being built up which create depth, emotion and detail in my work.
